Despite its “surgical” connotation, operative dentistry simply involves certain treatments needed to maintain good oral health, and includes the treatment of tooth decay. We mainly treat cavities with composite fillings, because they are free of mercury and their natural colour makes them invisible to the eye. That’s why we prefer to use this material, which has improved greatly in recent years as far as durability is concerned.
